Hi! My name is Elizabeth, but a lot of people know me as Lizzie. I am a junior at St. Pius X High School, and in my future after high school, I really want to be a pediatric oncologist with maybe even a side in entrepreneurship. My academics are very important to me for many reasons, one of them being that I am a first generation in my family and it helps me show my siblings that anything is possible even with hardships standing in the way. I love to run and I’ve also developed a passion for baking and cooking over the pandemic. Right beside my academics, helping people and doing little changes in the world that help is something I am incredibly passionate about. One thing that I do is something called box of joy through the organization called Cross Catholic Outreach and in a nutshell it is providing gifts to those who are less fortunate around the world during the holiday season. To do that, I bake cookies and people buy them, August – beginning of November, and with that money I go out and buy gifts, pack them up, and ship them out.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My parents are still together, and they work literally 24/7. They mean the world to me and are always there to support me and uplift me even through the toughest times. I also have 2 siblings a brother and a sister, and they mean everything in the world to me. They are my build in best friend and I am forever grateful for them. I love my family with my whole entire heart <3
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a student, so my past, current, and future career is pretty much being a student up until I reach my degrees and can go out and live out my dream careers.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family is definitely my top inspiration, every single one of them is a different person, but their difference is what I need in my life, what builds me up every single day. There is one more person who inspires me, and that person is my friend, I have not known them for long, but they have definitely had a positive impact on my life, they have showed me confidence, determination, and fight. Those qualities are all things that I am missing in my person and seeing them live those out so easily and how it has helped them so much, inspire me to live like that as well, to have growth, and believe in myself.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I was born and am being raised in Albuquerque, so; so far 16 years.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Making one person smile, can turn into so many smiles. The domino effect is a real thing; so if you start a change, other people will want to help with that change, and that change will lead to bigger unimaginable changes that are needed in this world.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I want to travel the world, starting with Asia.
