I am the co-founder and COO of Selflane. Selflane is an online food delivery service and point of sale system. I was born in China and moved to the United States at a very young age. I took my first culinary class in third grade and fell in love with cooking, it is my meditation. When the Covid 19 pandemic shuttered in-person operations, restaurants needed a way to go virtual. So many turned to Selflane, a delivery service I launched in 2017.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a beautiful family who is a massive part of why I strive to keep pushing myself. My loving wife Brittany has supported me since I started Selflane. I would not have been able to create a new company and a family without her encouragement. My son Aven is a firecracker and is very smart for his age. We are happy to say we have another son on the way and look forward to our next chapter.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I grew up in a Chinese restaurant family. My parents still own that restaurant, so growing up I saw how difficult it was to be a part of this business. Selflane started to help people in our community. We went from 70 restaurants on our app to over 300 using our food delivery service. We wanted to build a tech company to make everyone’s lives easier as a business owner. Our service saves business owners money and helps them grow a successful business outside of their restaurant.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Albuquerque for quite some time now. Selflane was launched in 2017. Selflane gives back in so many ways. We understand mom and pop operations are getting by on small margins. Many third party platforms are charging restaurants 15%-40% commission on delivery orders. We are proud to save the Albuquerque restaurant community over $3 million in commission fees since the start of the pandemic.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Do not give up. I came to the United States when I was very young. I did not speak English. I continued to push myself and had big dreams for my life and my families. The defining moment of my career was starting Selflane. Charlie, my partner and I took a leap of faith. We left our corporate jobs to create solutions in what we believed was a better infrastructure system for local business. Our business has now grown to service 17 states.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Many people who don’t know me, don’t know that I am in love with golf. I try to golf as much as I can during my free time. I now take my son golfing with me on my days off. He is almost 3 and can swing a club! Makes me proud. I would love to go to see The Masters Golf tournament!
