I’m working to bring Downtown Albuquerque back to life. As an architect, I see the value in the beautiful buildings in our city, but more than that I see a potential for this neighborhood to become a vibrant place open to everyone to live, learn, work and thrive. The vacant and boarded-up buildings can and should be restored and reoccupied for the good of our city’s future, and to respect the hard work of the Burqueños that came before us.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Baker A+D explores creative design solutions which inspire the people who occupy our buildings. We have a strong focus on educational and hospitality architecture. Personally, I’m motivated by creating vibrant environments that bring people together and foster community.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I fist moved to Albuquerque in July of 1992 and thought I might stick around through Fall if I enjoyed it. I moved here with nothing arranged; no job, no contacts, and not even a place to sleep. And here we are 30 years later.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
If you want something, work hard for it. Prepare. Be ready but be patient. Take risks and bet on yourself. If you don’t, who will?

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
In my next life I want to be a singer-songwriter traveling troubadour.
